(I thought [info]be4u
was looking for one and gasping at the prices not long ago , but I can't find the post she mentioned it in, if she even did. So this is for whoever it was ....)

My notebook's coming up on three years, and the original battery loses its charge too quickly, which seems to be par for the course at this age. I just found one on line.
http://www.duracelldirect.com/default.aspx

The batteries are 10% off on orders placed through September 5, and at least when I pulled up the page (both the first time and just now), there was a "coupon number" that I could key in when I made the order that saved another 10%. I don't know how those coupon things work on web sites, though -- not sure if they show up randomly, or if everyone gets one. Anyway, if you need a battery, you could save some $$ by acting soon. Plus, FREE SHIPPING.

The site also has some useful info about batteries and wear and care, etc., too.

That is all.

I paid $199 for a battery at Fry's and returned it within a week because it only held a charge for 45 minutes to an hour (and this was after several charge / discharge cycles). I couldn't see spending that much money for the same length of time I get with my current original battery (which sucks...45 minutes is ridiculous!).

Thanks for the link, they do have the battery I need for $179. Still a lot of money for 45 minutes. I've decided to just put that money towards another laptop, a smaller one with better power usage.

I was just commenting on YOUR journal while you were commenting on mine!

I wasn't sure you were being able to keep up with everyone's posts, given all the crazy stuff you're dealing it, so I wanted to be sure you knew about this.

I was recently looking for and gasping at prices of laptop batteries for my husband's laptop. He still needs to tell me if he wants me to get him a spare. I might take a peek and see if they have one that would fit in his computer.

Glad to be of service! The site can tell you exactly which battery fits your particular laptop (brand and model number) and the type of battery -- there are several, and they can't be swapped. See? I learned something from the site! :P Anyway, don't judge it by whether it can "fit" in his computer (but you probably already know that, and I'm just taking you too literally.).

I just have to remember exactly what type of Sony Vaio he has. I'm pretty certain it's an VGN-FE series but that still leaves about almost 50 possibilities. Since he has the computer and most of the paperwork related to it I can't just look on it for the series number.

Sounds like a surprise gift...
