Got an email from my "brother" Jack (the friend I have known longest, since age 3) that the mother of my second-longest friend, Cameron (since kindergarten) had died. Cameron surprised and gladdened me greatly in 2004 by flying up, unbenownst to me, from San Diego to Portland, OR, to shos up at my mother's memorial service. I remember thinking that no one my age but Jack would be there, only my mother's friends and associates, as I really have no childhood chums in PDX now. Seeing Cameron was a joy.
I already knew that her mother had cancer. Jessalie was a wonderful person. I remember thinking that when Cameron's mother finally passed, I should return the great favor she (Cameron) granted me and show up for the service. But I'm not sure I will be able to pull it off. Need to find out when it will happen, first.
