Actually, I got confused in my haste ... it wasn't HSUS, but MSPCA that was called the first time. The officer came, looked at the horses, found them in excellent shape, and friendly, and obviously not depressed, noted that hell, it was spring, it had been raining forever, and so of course things were wet. Then she said she had been contacted by this same woman before about other alleged "mistreatment," and thought she was a bit of a PETA-like person with "too much time on her hands."
But since I *do* feel guilty that my ponies don't have a nice pasture to graze in (I've even fenced off our back yard with electric fence to give them graze time, and will do it again if it will just stop raining here!), this kind of stuff always sends me into a swirl.
