Samurai finally got to kendo today, after missing many Saturday classes due to either work or injuries. Just as I was about to start dinner, she called to say the class (all college-age students except for her) was going to get ice cream because it was the birthday of one of the students, so she'd be home later than planned. I thought that was great.
THEN she called about an hour later to say that they had all decided to go out to dinner!
Years back, even before she started therapy for depression, I would tell her that hard as I knew it was (having been there, myself), eventually she would find a group where she "fit in." In terms of her age-peers, she needed to be patient and wait for them to "catch up." (In high school, most of my friends were a year or two ahead of me; same in college.) I am so thrilled that this college-age crowd (who initially called her "the kid," or something like that) has recognized her as an individual who is as mature as she is. I don't know if the sensai is with them, or not. I hope she is having a great time.
So now I'll make dinner just for spouse and me...
