Hunting season... Eeeek!

ar_wahanI was starting dinner a little while ago, and heard Jesse Cat scratching at the deck door. I opened it up, let him in, didn't really look at him. Then did a double-take. He seemed to have sprouted a full grayish-white mustache.
Looked again -- it was a mouse between his jaws!
He ran into the living room. Was it alive or dead? I got him to drop it, and the poor thing was alive.
I managed to pick it up in my hands (I've never done this before), ran to the door, placed it out onto the deck.
"RUNNNN!!!!" I said, slamming the door shut before Jesse could go after it.
I have no idea whether it was wounded or not, but when I looked out a moment ago with a flashlight, it was gone.
Puir beastie.
