The other thing that may be going on is that my husband was the head of what is the small-New-England-town version of a city council. He was the leading voice in making some decisions that some people did not agree with. There was some nasty stuff going on then. He always wonders if this "animal mistreatment" stuff is coming from people still mad had him who are taking it out on me, as my horses are more visible than policies.
